This was the worst experience ever. It taught me that hard work does not pay off, but nodding your head and giving high-fives through a fake smile might. The location is awesome, but not worth someones self-respect for themselves. Luckily I'm a local so after their "2nd round layoffs" I had plently to bounce to, but for the hundred or so they hired from other states and then laid off out of the blue a few months later....awful. Management claims to take cuts themselves, but that is a lie. If your not drinking the cool-aid watch out! The management is a joke. A few of them who deserve success are stuck with a bunch of losers (professionally and personally). Criticism is healthy if it is genuine, but that is not the case at this place. You are criticized downright to what you eat..that is if they don't throw it away (seriously). Sexual harassment, hell yeah! It was beyond ridiculous, but at the time I didn't know how to handle it. I'm sure others got it as well, share your stories!!! I hope Pousti and his kiss-ass sidekick get a reality check
I notice that they post job listings under fanbox now! haha; too much negative press about sms.ac they have to change their name
I couldn't agree more with everything you said! I worked there for almost a year and also made it through 2 rounds of layoffs. When they lay off your entire team except for you they blatantly lie and say its because "you can handle change better than the rest," but it's really because you have been there the shortest and are the cheapest to keep around. Management does not care about you or "changing the world" like they preach that they do; they only care what their stocks could be worth one day and will step on everyone and everything in their path to succeed. Senior management takes advantage of their employees every chance they get, unless of course you are willing to go to Waikiki with the CEO. He was so out of line he even told me that I could get any position in the company I wanted if I were to come to him... That was until I told him I was interested of course. It is true that you will learn a lot working at SMS.ac/FanBox, but you will also have to sacrifice your sleep, personal life, and independent thinking to do so. Don't make that sacrifice if you don't have to.
I was one of the out-of-state people that they hired. They let me go after a few months of working there. My life was in deep shit after I got laid off. I literally had to live in my car for almost two months before having another job. I was so depressed to the point that I actually cried at night in my car. I hate these people so much!
i hope someone shuts these guys out!
